December 2025: I have been selected to be part of the next cohort of Intern Junior Editors (IJE) to work with Dr Isabel Gauthier at JEP:HPP starting January 2026. This position is designed for individuals who want to gain experience relevant to future positions in scientific publishing. As an IJE, I will assist with the internal review stage that takes place before manuscripts are sent out for external evaluation.
November 2025: I gave my very first research talk at Psychonomics this year!
In this project, I presented new evidence showing that active and passive forms of sustained attention are associated with distinct pupillometry signatures of cognitive engagement.
Slides are available here (there are some pretty cool pupillometry graphs in there!).
November 2025: I presented a workshop on Linear Mixed-Effects Modeling for NMSU College of Health, Education, and Social Transformation (HEST) as part of their Quantitative Methods Workshop Series. Thank you to everyone who attended, both in person and online! I look forward to developing more workshops like this in the future to make statistical analysis more accessible and to equip researchers with practical tools to strengthen their work.
September 2025: Thrilled to have received 2nd place at the NMSU Postdoc Association research presentation competition! I presented a new meta-science project, which focuses on how we can make shared data more interpretable and usable for the broader research community. Big thanks to the Postdoc Association for the support and opportunity.
August 2025: Our team, Dr. Michael Hout, Eben Daggett, and myself, has been awarded a grant by the NMSU Institute for Applied Practice in AI and Machine Learning. Our project is called “Human similarity data for the development of representationally aligned medical AI”.
May 2025: A new article from our lab is out! This project was funded by NM-INBRE through a grant awarded to Dr. Michael Hout. The work was presented by Dr. Megan Papesh at the ACM Symposium on Eye-tracking Research and Applications in Tokyo and co-authored by myself, Dr. Hout, and our lab members Bryan White and Ashley Mathis.
April 2025: Thrilled to share that Mayte Alonso Carrillo, an undergraduate Discovery Scholar in our lab, presented our collaborative work at the 2025 Undergraduate Research and Creative Arts Symposium (URCAS)! Mayte has been part of the lab since Fall 2024 and has been co-supervised by myself, Dr Michael Hout, and Dr Megan Papesh on this project. She won an Outstanding Poster Presentation award! Congratulations, Mayte! 🎉
March 2025: I’m excited to share that I’ve joined the Graduate Student and Postdoc Committee for the Psychonomic Society Conference, taking place November 20–23, 2025, in Denver, CO.
March 2025: Excited to share that I’ve joined the OPAM family! I’ll be part of the team organizing OPAM 33, which will take place on November 20, 2025, in Denver, CO.
